Motivations for the CRRC board adopting this year's theme include three major things. First, we have had interest on the part of some CRRC members in this subject very specifically. Second, racism is rearing its ugly head in overt ways since the election of our first African American president. And third, the idea that we MUST talk about race, not ignore it. There are many reasons to confront this issue, but an interesting read on the subject can be found in the September 14, 2009 edition of Newsweek magazine.
The CRRC is good at talking about race. We believe it is important to acknowledge, discuss and celebrate race, to celebrate the beauty of the variety within humanity. We welcome your participation in 2010 in talking about race during our Quarterly Meetings.
